A civil action lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court this week alleges that contestants on Amazon Prime’s “Beast Games” were “shamelessly exploited” and subjected to “unreasonable, unsafe” working conditions. The lawsuit names Amazon and a production company linked to YouTube creator Jimmy Donaldson, also known as “MrBeast,” as defendants. The reality competition show featured physical challenges similar to those seen on Donaldson’s YouTube channel and offered a $5 million prize. The lawsuit claims that contestants were underfed, overtired, and overworked, with insufficient medical staff available to treat potential injuries. The complaint also alleges that sexism and misogyny were rampant on the set and encouraged by the production crew following a “MrBeast Handbook” that allegedly promoted inappropriate behavior. Despite ongoing filming in Canada and Panama, an air date for the show had not been set by Amazon at the time of the lawsuit. A representative for Donaldson declined to comment, and Amazon officials could not be reached for comment.
