Singapore has topped the ranking of the world’s strongest passports, knocking Spain off the top spot. The ranking, issued by VisaGuide.World, evaluates 199 countries and territories based on factors such as visa-free access and global mobility. Singapore’s passport scored 91.27 out of 100, making it the strongest in the world. However, European countries still dominate the top five, with Spain, France, Italy, and Hungary following closely behind.
VisaGuide.World’s ranking takes into account various factors, including visa-free entry, Electronic Travel Authorisation, and visa on arrival policies. The next ranking could look different as Schengen countries introduce the Entry/Exit System and the UK rolls out its ETA. Spain fell to second place in the ranking due to a decrease in the number of countries Spanish passport holders can visit without a visa.
Despite losing the top spot, European passport holders still enjoy impressive freedom of movement, with the ability to travel to over 30 countries without a passport thanks to the European Union and the Schengen zone. This ease of movement may mitigate any disappointment felt by Spanish citizens over losing the top ranking.
While Singapore may have the strongest passport in the world according to VisaGuide.World, the ranking is subject to change based on diplomatic ties, mutual visa policies, and global stability. With European countries also performing well in the ranking, the competition for the strongest passport continues to be fierce.
